Wellington U.13 Boys win SSSA Tournament
2015-09-25
Wellington enjoyed a fantastic weekend of sport last weekend. We hosted the U.15 Boys SSSA tournament, which was a very tight contest amongst the schools. Wellington went through the group stages and semi finals unbeaten, but unfortunately the boys lost out on penalties.
A number of impressive performances from the team including, newcomers Gerard Carrasco and Octave Chouvet. Olly Snoddy was awarded the Player of the tournament, thanks to his classy performance in midfield. Many congratulations to YKPAO who won the tournament, beating WISS in the final.
I would also like to congratulate our sports leaders for referring the tournament in such a mature manner. It was very pleasing to receive such positive feedback from teachers of the other schools. Many thanks to Max Dyckerhoff, Luka Ceyssens and Shingai Nindi.
The U.13 were at YKPAO, they started the tournament well and got better with every game. The team’s performance led them to a final with WISS. It was a great game and very competitive between the two sides. After full time, the score was 1-1 thanks to a well taken goal by Matteo Schisano. There was no separating the teams and it was down to a penalty shootout. After three penalties each, the scores were still tied, so we entered sudden death. Felix Dyckerhoff courageously stepped forward and scored the winning penalty and the celebrations began.
A special mention must go to both our goalkeepers on the day Sam Young and Rob McKim. Both played well and Rob did particularly well by saving two penalties in the final. Skipper Louis Flint, who was voted Player of the Tournament was very influential, his inter play with Ben Cook was particularly effective.
Many congratulations to all of the squad it was a real team effort and they all played their part. Also a thank you to all our parents for their continued support, it is much appreciated.
