BSL U14 volleyball championships

This Saturday the U14 boys Volleyball team travelled to BISS Puxi for their first outing as a squad in the inaugural British Schools League Championships. With almost all of them never having really played the sport before this term, there was a sense of trepidation and anxiety as they ventured into the unknown! To their credit the team pulled out their first victory in their first ever game, beating the hosts, BISS Puxi, 2-0 in a narrowly fought victory, and the boys got a taste for what the game is about. The second game saw Wellington battle out a tough and narrow defeat, 2-0, to a more experienced NAIS Pudong, only to rally and beat the eventual tournament winners, Dulwich, 2-0in the third. This left Wellington in the 3rd and 4th place play off by the loss of 1 set, to play the hosts Biss Puxi again. This turned out to be an exciting game with both teams throwing everything they had at each other. With Wellington losing in the 3rd set by 2 points, 2-1. All the boys who played in the squad can be very proud of what they achieved in this new sport at Wellington, as the result does not reflect the performance. Long may it continue, as the future of Volleyball at Wellington is extremely bright.
