Wellington rock band won People’s Choice Award !

On Sunday 8th May, Wellington’s Year 10 rock band competed against nine other school bands in the annual Battle of the Bands. This year the event was part of Sound of Spring, a two day event organised by Urban Family and That's Shanghai. As well as giving young musicians an opportunity to perform, part of the competition is for the pupils to sell tickets for the event raising funds for Heart to Heart, a Shanghai charity that pays for children’s heart surgery. The band performed two songs, first a cover of “I predict a riot” by the Kaiser Chiefs then one of their own songs called “Alive”. The judges commented on the tightness of the boys’ performance and complimented them on writing and performing their own song. At the end of the afternoon Wellington were awarded the People’s Choice award for the most money raised by an individual school. Part of their prize includes a performance outside the school.
