Happy New Year: Pupils make resolutions for 2018
2018-01-08
Happy New Year and welcome back to the new term! After the excitement and enjoyment of Christmas, New Years and a thoroughly deserved break, our pupils and staff are back in class, refreshed and ready to make 2018 a great year.
How better to make a positive start than with one or even several well considered resolutions? Many of our pupils have thought long and hard about what they want to focus on this year in terms of self-improvement. Take a look at their aspirations for the coming year, and perhaps come up with one or two to follow yourself.
Lola Year 3
“ My New Year’s resolution is to get better grades in Chinese. To do this I will study more at home and at school. I will also try to read more Chinese books. My biggest goal is to write more characters in my reports.”
Ezekiel Year 4
“ I have three main resolutions I want to focus on next year. My first is spelling. In my English work, I do not always spell words correctly and I want to have a really good piece of work to show my teacher. I also want to improve my handwriting as I really want to earn my ‘Pen Licence’ and be allowed to write in pen! Finally, I love being in my school football team. I want to continue to develop my passing, dribbling and shooting skills, in order to help my team get stronger.”
Crystal Year 5“ My name is Crystal and I like to think I’m really good at writing stories in English. My resolution is to now improve in my writing of pieces in Chinese and do this by reading more books and practicing more writing. I’m in the top class in Chinese and I really like it. My grades are pretty good but I want to achieve more in the new year.”
Luke Year 6
“ For the coming year, I’m compelled to make my New Year’s resolution to live without eating meat. Why? I saw a really, fatty, gross chunk of meat and I thought to myself, “where did that come from?” Then I had nightmares that night. Ever since then, I’ve decided time to become a vegetarian. This is my New Year’s resolution. ”
Joe Year 7
“ A New Year’s resolution is something that you want to do or improve on. To be honest I think this year was great so I should keep up with this good work. For me, academic lessons are most important. So, for my New Year’s resolution I think I should work even harder in lessons, because school is something that facilitates your future. Like my favourite footballer, Steven Gerrard, has said, “I do not believe in talent I only believe in hard work”. This is why my New Year’s resolution is to work harder.”
Charlene Year 8
“ When it comes to New Year’s resolutions, I see these as a way to introduce some good changes into my life, whether it is to add some fun to life or make a change to my life style. As I now have a busy school schedule and my parents are becoming busier, our communication has become trickier. As my New Year’s resolution I have decided to try and spend more time with my parents. This will mean we communicate more effectively and have fun together.”
