Welcome to your future | Class of 2018
2018-03-21
As the Lent term closes, we are delighted to share the success of our year 13s, many of whom have received offers from some of the world’s most prestigious universities in areas such as medicine, mathematics, business management, international relations, biosciences and molecular bioengineering. Every pupil has worked extremely hard to present their target universities with applications that successfully highlight the quality of their character alongside their academic strengths.
In addition, Joseph Hua, who completed his IB Diploma at Wellington in 2017 with 44 points before taking a gap year to teach in London, has received a conditional offer at the University of Cambridge to read mathematics.
Wellington pupils have received offers from leading universities such as Durham University, Imperial College London, University College London, King’s College London, University of Manchester and University of St. Andrew’s in the UK, from University of Southern California, University of Texas (Austin), University of Illinois (Chicago) and University of Massachusetts in the United States, and from University of British Columbia (Canada), Hong Kong University, University of Leiden (the Netherlands), and Catholic University of Leuven (Belgium) globally.
Our Head of Sixth Form Ewan McCallum said: “We are incredibly proud of each and every one of our IB pupils. Our IB pupils model the Wellington Identity in everything that they do, and due to the independence and confidence they have gained studying at the College, they are well-placed to have an extremely successful future. I’m pleased that each individual pupil has their own story to celebrate, and whether they are pursuing a career in medicine, as an engineer, destined to read history, or perform on stage, they feel confident in taking their next steps towards this exciting period in their lives”.
Head of Senior School Joe McKee added: “These offers are a testament both to the determination and ambition our pupils show, and to the belief and backing they receive from their teachers at Wellington. It’s a true team effort. We are now all focused on meeting this year’ offers through careful final preparations for the summer’s IB exams.”
We would like to congratulate every year 13 pupil on their continued diligence, determination and dedication and look forward to celebrating their success this summer.
